The picture at the top of my website is taken in Long Beach, California. It was on a sunny Sunday morning in August 2008, during the annual conference of the Academy of Management, when my friend Kallie and I went for breakfast at Ruby’s. It’s an experience to eat there, not only for the food, but also for the view. When I saw the picture I took of this place, it reminded me of the book “Building the bridge as you walk on it” of Robert Quinn. Isn’t leadership about going your path, fulfilling your mission step by step, without a detailed project plan but only the hope and faith that you will get there? Are we acting in the role of a leader or are we the leader? A recommended reading.
